Frontiers in Science- Los Alamos Talks
March 18th from 6:00 PM – 7:15 PM OR 8:00 PM – 9:30 PM
Los Alamos National Laboratory presents “Luminous: Tribute to women astronomers who shaped our understanding of the Universe” a free public talk by scientist Bette Korber. The talks are part of the Frontiers in Science lecture series.
During the last century, four women astronomers stood out for their fundamental contributions to astronomy. They discovered the distances to stars, the chemical makeup of the universe, revealed the significance of dark matter and made a compelling case for an ever-expanding universe.
Join Los Alamos scientist Bette Korber and Karina Wilson on violin for some music and history on International Women and Girls in Science Day. Korber highlights the challenges and triumphs of the scientists who blazed trails through the Milky Way and beyond.
