Julesworks Follies Improv Comedy Show

Live Variety Show

Julesworks is gearing up for their 60th Live Variety Show with JW Follies # 60 to take place at the JCC on Sun Nov 10th at 7 pm.

Spearheaded by Julesworks Loyalists Rose Provan, Ellchemi Ossorio, Christl MacKenzie and her Clan and Jules, they will present an Episode which may lack a cohesive Theme so much as take into account, or ignore, that the show will take place between Halloween and Day of the Dead and Turkey Week and around an election. While the content of the show may have little to nothing to do with those, it will present an array of short skits, music, poetry and much more with plenty of room for audience input, participation, and some improv inspired moments.

Anchored around a brand new original playlet by Rose Provan called Gramma Smokes Pot, presented throughout the show in snippets, there are rumored to be a possible appearance by Cheech and Chong, visits to Christ’l Medical Shop and much more to be confirmed. With a new performer joining Julesworks for the first time as the Host, Dan Burkath, the show will once again present a lively variety of short performance pieces.

Julesworks will stage their annual(ish) year end BLOWOUT on Sun Dec 29th at 7pm at the JCC bringing together again an array of past performers with new ones and much more.

All performers and artists, as well as anyone interested in helping behind the scenes, are encouraged to submit possible show ideas to Jules at: srubinfilms@gmail.com

  • RIP Mike
by grrm on January 15, 2020 at 2:33 am

I was deeply saddened this week to read of the death of Mike Resnick, one of the true giants of contemporary science fiction.  Mike has been battling serious illness for some time, so the news did not come as a complete surprise… but it came too soon, too soon, and our field and our community

CoNZealand, this year’s World Science Fiction Convention, has announced that nominations are now open for the 2020 Hugo Awards.   To nominate, you need to be a member of either this year’s worldcon, or last year’s Dublin convention.  You can nominate either electronically, or with a paper ballot (though very few chose the latter method these

  • Toolbox Opens

Walter Jon Williams informs me that he is now taking applications for the 2020 version of the Taos Toolbox, his “graduate level” workshop for aspiring writers of science fiction and fantasy.   This year’s gathering will be June 7-20… not actually in Taos, confusingly, but nearby in Angel Fire, in the Land of Enchantment.  Walter Jon
