Stephanie Hatfield’s “Out This Fell” Album Release Party ***SOLD OUT***

***SOLD OUT***

January 25th from 8:00 PM – 10:00 PM

Stephanie Hatfield’s upcoming album, Out This Fell is an Indie Folk Pop album full of songs that spin an assortment of epic tales including that of a 60 year friendship set in Naples, the abandonment of those left to the decay of Detroit, surviving a mental break in the mountains of Northern New Mexico and the sweet simplicity of a love that still holds true and comforting even after death.  Utilizing an assortment of vocal stylings including raw and bursting, soft and intimate and even a touch of soaring operatic notes, this solid indie pop rock sound is peppered with southwest influences and emotionally wrought guitar lines.

These songs are about pain, love, admiration, compassion, confusion, longing, comfort and regret delivered as if they were arteries coming from the soul. With this album, Hatfield has set out to express that calling in all of us to feel something, anything, to set a soundtrack to emotion.

I was deeply saddened this week to read of the death of Mike Resnick, one of the true giants of contemporary science fiction.  Mike has been battling serious illness for some time, so the news did not come as a complete surprise… but it came too soon, too soon, and our field and our community

CoNZealand, this year’s World Science Fiction Convention, has announced that nominations are now open for the 2020 Hugo Awards.   To nominate, you need to be a member of either this year’s worldcon, or last year’s Dublin convention.  You can nominate either electronically, or with a paper ballot (though very few chose the latter method these

  • Toolbox Opens

Walter Jon Williams informs me that he is now taking applications for the 2020 version of the Taos Toolbox, his “graduate level” workshop for aspiring writers of science fiction and fantasy.   This year’s gathering will be June 7-20… not actually in Taos, confusingly, but nearby in Angel Fire, in the Land of Enchantment.  Walter Jon
